THE ROYAL COMMISSION

The Herald’s Auckland City Reporter has an article in this morning’s paper wanting the immediate release of the Royal Commission’s report before the government has had time to consider it.

Why, pray, would any self-respecting minister release the report sight unseen to a reporter whom the Herald’s own editor admitted only two days ago “misinterprets” information? It is in the public interest that the Royal Commission report is accurately reported to the people of Auckland. It must not be the victim of some drive-by shooting from Bernard Orsman. I trust that Minister of Local Government, Rodney Hide, resists the Herald’s call, at least until that paper cleans up its act.
